The mother of a 14-year-old girl allegedly married to FLDS church leader Warren Jeffs wants a jury to decide who gets custody of her children.

The Deseret News reports Barbara Jessop has filed a demand notice in a Texas court seeking a jury trial.

It comes before a permanency hearing scheduled this week, in which child welfare authorities were to update a judge on Jessop’s daughter’s status in foster care.

The girl was originally taken in the April raid of the FLDS ranch in Texas and ordered into foster care in August after a judge ruled Jessop failed to protect her from abuse.
